spec0
independent engineering registry and compliance blueprint dedicated to the development of unbloated, hardware-frugal, free software primitives.
01. abstract
this document establishes the formal engineering constraints required to achieve architectural compliance under the spec0 framework. this standard governs the development of core userland utilities, mandating strict software frugality, compile-time memory safety, and total operator autonomy. non-compliant development traits—such as hidden telemetry loops, bloated dependency trees, and complex dynamic runtime abstractions—are explicitly rejected.
02. paradigm manifesto
modern userland software has completely lost its architectural anchor. commercial utility blocks have degenerated into massive, multi-gigabyte tracking platforms that waste processor cycles, manipulate telemetry data, and artificially force consumer hardware obsolescence.
the spec0 initiative marks an absolute return to technical discipline. we assert that software must operate strictly as a predictable tool under the transparent command of the operator, not as a remote corporate data extraction pipeline. if a software utility cannot be cleanly audited, compiled from source text, and modified via text patches by a single human mind, it is non-compliant.
03. verified reference implementation
the following software subsystem has undergone complete structural audit and is formally registered as a spec0 compliant reference model:
04. compliance matrix
• posix compliance: the system must execute natively within standard posix environment hierarchies, interfacing predictably via standard streams and system signals.
• memory safety: mandatory implementation inside memory-safe primitives to programmatically eliminate historic memory-corruption exploit paths at the compilation phase.
• source customization: elimination of dynamic runtime extensions. operational alterations are introduced exclusively by executing clean text patches against raw configuration constants prior to local binary compilation.
